About this notebook
Four of us kept telling each other the same stories and losing the useful parts. The walk where we ran out of water. The oven that runs cold. The shelf that only holds forty books. Every time, the detail worth remembering evaporated somewhere between the third telling and the next month.
So this is where the details go. It is not a blog in the sense of having a schedule, and it is not advice in the sense of being tested on anyone but us. Things get written down when they seem worth writing down, which is roughly six or seven times a year.
What you will not find here
- A newsletter. There is no list and there will not be one.
- Comments. The good conversations happen at the table.
- Tracking. No analytics, no third-party scripts, nothing loaded from anywhere else.
The site is four hand-written HTML files and one stylesheet. That is deliberate — it means nothing breaks, nothing needs updating, and it will still load in ten years on whatever we are using then.
The best argument for writing things down is that you will disagree with yourself later, and it is useful to know exactly what you disagreed with.
If something here was useful to you, that is a pleasant accident rather than the intention. Mostly it is a notebook that happens to be readable from outside.
